With an exciting year ahead, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Production Horticultural Supervisor to join our team.
Position Overview:
Production Horticultural Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and undertaking the cultivation, growing and maintenance of citrus and stone fruit trees. The work can be undertaken in either an indoor facility or shed, or outdoor farm setting, or both. The Production Horticultural Supervisor is involved in overseeing all of the associated production processes.
This is a full-time position suitable for Candidate who:
● Demonstrates strong, genuine and long-term employment commitment to SHARP Fruit.
● Prepares to relocate to live and work in regional areas like Swan Hill, Victoria and regional lifestyle adjustments.
● Hard working ethics and good attitudes.
Key Responsibilities:
● Order trees, fertiliser and chemicals.
● Manage the planting operations.
● Manage the irrigation requirements.
● Ensure appropriate fertilisers and plant nutrition requirements are met.
● Implement appropriate pesticide and weedicide programs.
● Develop seasonal production plans and yield forecasts.
● Monitor and analyse orchard performance and implement improvements.
● Coordinate labour allocation and workforce planning.
● Lead and mentor farming staff.
● Oversee harvest operations and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
● Monitor farm equipment functionality and arrange for maintenance and repairs as needed
● Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement best practices in farming operations
Qualifications:
● Must have at least 1 year hands-on horticulture or farming experience.
● Must hold a valid Chemical Users Certificate along with an Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP).
● Previous experience in a supervisory role within the horticulture industry.
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail.
● Knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices.
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work flexible hours during peak seasons.
