Grower
SETTLEMENT FARM is a family owned and operated stone fruit orchard at Woorinen in Northern Victoria, Australia.
The Gammons have been horticulturists since the 1920s when Albert Gammon took up a Soldier Settlement Block in the heart of Woorinen, Gammon Road was named after him. Over the decades the farm has grown a variety of fresh produce such export wine grapes, stone fruit, cantaloupes as well as dried fruit.
Progressively over the years the Gammon Family farmed in the area and instilled a keen interest in farming in the following generations.
Today Settlement Farm is run by Colin and Anne Gammon and assisted by Tim Gammon. Colin is the third generation to farm on this land and Tim the fourth.
The farm is approximately 100 Acres and now includes land bought from adjoining neighbours. Nectarines and peaches are the predominant crops grown and are well suited to the climate at Woorinen. Every effort is taken to grow the fruit to match the required customer specifications - colour, size and taste within food safety guidelines. They currently have accreditation in Freshcare, ICA 21 and Export to China, Thailand and Taiwan.
In 2018 a decision was made to send the fruit to the newly created SHARP packhouse run by the Morpeth and Young families. This decision has enabled Settlement Farm to join this highly progressive stone fruit marketing group that supplies both domestic and export markets.
